What Does Smart Home Installation Include?
A professional smart home installer does more than just mount a device. The real value is in the configuration: connecting the device to your Wi-Fi, setting up the mobile app, testing every function, and making sure it integrates with your existing devices (Alexa, Google Home, Apple HomeKit). A Ring doorbell that isn't properly configured to send motion alerts defeats the purpose.
Which Smart Home Devices Are Most Popular in Westchester?
Ring doorbells are by far the most requested item - especially in Harrison, Scarsdale, and White Plains neighborhoods. Nest thermostats are a close second, particularly popular with homeowners looking to lower their energy bills in Westchester's cold winters. Smart locks are increasingly common for families with kids, Airbnb hosts, and second-home owners who want keyless access.

Tips for Smart Home Setup in Westchester Homes
- Check your Wi-Fi signal strength at the install location before buying any device
- For older Westchester homes, check that smart switches will have the required neutral wire
- Buy devices in the same ecosystem (all Amazon Alexa, all Google Home, or all Apple HomeKit) for easier integration
- Have your Wi-Fi password ready - your installer will need it for every device
- Consider a whole-home package - installing 5+ devices at once is significantly cheaper than separate visits
